You're invited to a sheet mulch workshop this Saturday, September 27. The brochure is attached and should be visible. In case it's not, here's basic information.
Location - between Northfield and Faribault, at the beautiful Vairochana Farm (www.VairochanaFarm.wordpress.com). You're encouraged to carpool, as parking is limited and climate change is imminent; address and directions will be given when you register.
Morning: 9-12, gathering materials and doing site prep; lunch offered; time to wander in the hills and creeks.
Afternoon: 1-4 pm, actually assembling the mulch and getting the garden ready for winter. Donation requested if you just come for the afternoon, $5. Handouts will be given along with instruction and practice.
What is sheet mulching? Also known as lasagne gardening, sheet mulching is a method of creating good (better) soil without tilling. We mow the weeds, smother them with cardboard or newspaper, and add nutrients such as compost and manure. Doing it in fall gives the materials time to settle and the weeds time to die before spring planting.
I hope you can come. Please reply to Shodo Spring at shodo.spring [at] gmail.com, or 507-384-8541.
