Transitioners,Here's an interesting message and event notice that came to the "info [at] transitionnorthfield.org " mailbox. The symposium she mentions is in White Bear Lake on the afternoon of April 18. Their web site says the symposium has the support of Paul Hawken and Joanna Macy, so those are good recommendations. And it supposedly helps people jump-start their local awareness raising activities. I thought it might cost something but their web site says it's free, donations accepted.
I'll respond to Kaye to let her know that I've notified the group and then we can think about whether some of us want to attend this.

First of all, I have been following the transition movement for awhile now and am thrilled to see the first one popping up in MN! I was able to do the transition training in the UK last year and want to link up with any regional initiatives here in the US. I've been living abroad, I'm not sure how long I will be here, but would love to offer whatever support I can.
Secondly, I am also a facilitator for the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium and I wanted to let you know that there is a symposium scheduled for Sunday, April 18 in the Minneapolis area. (www.awakenthedreamer.org ). The symposium is a one day workshop to help people stop for a moment and examine what is really happening in the world, how we got to the position we're in, to understand what is possible for the future, and activate them to become change agents. One key part of the symposium is helping the attendees figure out "what is yours to do" and we like to have people from local initiatives share what is going on.
I think the ATD symposium meshes beautifully with the Transition Town awareness raising element, and could be used very effectively in the initial phases of your project, or in helping others in the Twin Cities area begin to think about their own transition initiative.
I'd love to speak with you further about cooperating on this symposium in April or on other future events.
Cheers, K
